Changing or leaving your course
Chat with one of our team by booking a 15 minute appointment (you can see who's who in About us - Meet the Team) - log into Careers Connect using your usual NUIG login details to book.
I want to start a different course, how do I apply?
A transfer between first year courses within NUIG may be possible if you meet the entry requirements for the course you wish to transfer to. Get details on eligibility and requirements at
http://www.nuigalway.ie/undergrad-admissions/deferrals/transfers/
If you are applying to first year of a course in another university, then you have to fill out the CAO form again. See the Handbook (http://www.cao.ie/index.php?page=downloads) for details for ’for those already attending a participating HEI’ - in certain circumstances there is a ’late application date’ in July (usually 22nd - http://www.cao.ie/index.php?page=timetableevents&bb=importantdates).
To apply to an undergraduate programme in the UK for any year, you need to complete the UCAS form (15th October deadline for Medicine/ Dentistry/ Vet/ Cambridge/ Oxford, 15th January for most other degrees).
I like my course but need to move city, how do I transfer to another college?
Most universities and ITs have a direct entry / transfer student section on their websites to let you know closing dates / application forms / entry requirements. It’s usually possible to transfer into 2nd year or later of a programme you’ve been studying elsewhere (so long as the university you’re applying to has space in that class).
Where do I get withdrawal forms?
The Student Registry Helpdesk can help you with the process for leaving your course and forms / deadlines.
